The Labor and Employment team presented to members of Green Bay Chapter SHRM on Wednesday, September 9, 2020. Their presentations provided a comprehensive update on new developments in the law including, employee rights in the workplace and workplace safety, layoffs and terminations, advanced ADA/FMLA issues and leave laws, and remote workforce challenges.

James Kalny, Chair of the Labor and Employment team, collaboratively presented, National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) / Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) / Workers’ Compensation (WC). In this session, James addressed employee rights in the workplace and workplace safety.

Labor and Employment attorney, Bob Burns presented, How to Handle Layoff and Terminations. In this session, Bob discussed what to watch out for and consider during layoffs and terminations.

Labor and Employment and Litigation Attorney, Tony Steffek collaboratively presented, Advanced Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) / Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) / Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA). This session addressed more advanced issues under the ADA and FMLA, as well as other leave laws, including overlapping leave obligations, complex employee leave and return to work situations, and some of the more complicated administrative issues resulting from an employer’s obligations under these laws.

Labor and Employment Attorney, Abby Busler collaboratively presented, Navigating your Remote Workforce.  This session discussed considerations related to wage and hours, security and technology, and confidentiality issues with your remote workforce.

This half-day conference took place virtually.
