Overview

Chicago, IL; Illinois Municipal League Annual Conference

The #MeToo movement has not only increased awareness regarding sexual harassment in the workplace, it has also brought forth a re-evaluation of the Illinois Human Rights Act and governmental entities’ obligations under the same. This re-evaluation resulted in the creation of both an Illinois Senate and Illinois House Task Force on Sexual Harassment. In this session at the Illinois Municipal League Annual Conference, Julie Proscia, a member of the Illinois Senate Task Force on Sexual Harassment, provides an update on the status of the Task Force debate and discussion regarding sexual harassment legislation. Insight into new training and policy obligations as well as best practices to avoid liability and litigation will be shared.
