Overview

Jeff Oberlies and Eric Pagnamenta obtained summary judgment in favor of our client, a leading insurance provider in Indiana, in a complex dispute involving a $2 million life insurance policy. Instead of asserting breach of contract, Plaintiff artfully pled claims of negligence and bad faith, which sought to expand the duties owed by life insurance companies to include revocable beneficiaries. By obtaining summary judgment for our client, Amundsen Davis prevented the expansion of negligence and good faith duties owed by life insurance companies, which would have disrupted life insurance practices and created new liabilities for insurance companies in Indiana.
