Chicago Daily Law Bulletin

Gary Zhao wrote a letter to the editor of the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin on behalf of the Asian American Bar Association of Greater Chicago, the Chinese American Bar Association of Greater Chicago, the South Asian Bar Association, the Filipino American Lawyers Association of Chicago and the Korean American Bar Association. After the latest judicial appointment process, Gary calls for more support of qualified Asian/Pacific American (APA) judicial candidates in the future appointment process or judicial elections. He notes that the number of APA judges is not proportionate to the public, especially give the recent population rise in both Cook County and Illinois. Gary stresses the importance of seeing a change in the judicial system’s diversity, especially given how minorities struggle within the legal profession.
