Overview
“Companies need counsel who can see the full picture. I’ve represented plaintiffs and defendants, from risk management consultation and initial investigations, through trial and appeal. That wide range allows me to see a case from all angles and build the strongest defense from day one.”
Jess is a seasoned civil litigation attorney whose practice focuses on defending companies and individuals in the transportation and health care industries across the country. She represents corporations, insurers, health care providers, transportation companies, and related businesses facing complex litigation, helping them manage risk and favorably resolve disputes.
An accomplished trial attorney, Jess has served as trial and appellate counsel in state and federal courts and has represented clients in complex litigation across the country. Notably, her appellate advocacy helped shape the landscape of Indiana law on excessive verdicts, establishing significant precedent defining when a jury award becomes excessive and the standards applied by Indiana courts when reviewing such verdicts.
Drawing on experience representing plaintiffs and defendants earlier in her career, Jess understands how claims are evaluated, developed, and presented at trial. She uses that perspective to build effective defense strategies, manage litigation risk, and help clients navigate complex disputes from initial investigation through resolution.
Transportation Litigation and Trucking Defense
Jess defends transportation companies, motor carriers, insurers, and related businesses in litigation arising from commercial vehicle accidents and other transportation-related claims. She handles matters involving trucking negligence, catastrophic injuries, wrongful death allegations, and significant damages exposure.
From the earliest stages of an incident, she works to identify critical facts, evaluate liability issues, and position cases for a favorable resolution, whether through negotiation, dispositive motion practice, or trial.
Health Care and Medical Malpractice Defense
Jess represents hospitals, physicians, health care providers, and insurers in medical malpractice and professional liability litigation. She defends claims ranging from routine negligence allegations to complex cases involving serious injuries and wrongful death.
Her experience managing matters from pre-suit investigation through trial enables her to analyze medical and factual issues, coordinate with expert witnesses, and develop defense strategies that address both legal and reputational considerations.
