Overview
Rob defends domestic and international motor carriers, freight brokers, logistics providers, rail services companies, transportation network companies, and rideshare companies against catastrophic commercial transportation accidents and cargo loss claims. With nearly two decades of experience, Rob is a skilled litigator with experience trying cases to verdict in Ohio, Michigan, and Illinois. He is national counsel for some of the largest trucking and freight brokerage companies in the nation and routinely assists clients in drafting and reviewing transportation, broker-carrier, and shipper-broker agreements.
Rob is a member of the firm's Transportation & Logistics Service Group and Rapid Response Team, which is tasked with immediately responding to accident scenes for the purpose of investigating and evaluating catastrophic losses. Rob has coordinated and performed hundreds of rapid responses throughout Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Florida, Georgia, Texas, Kansas, Wyoming, Oklahoma, and Oregon.
Rob’s practice also includes telecommunications litigation and defending manufacturers, general contracts, and subcontractors against construction defect, breach of contract, commercial dispute, and personal injury claims.

This decision is important because many states, including Ohio, have similar TNC statutes that can be relied upon to dispute claims for agency, vicarious liability, and negligent hiring.

Supreme Court of the United States Agrees to Address Whether the FAAAA Preempts Negligence Claims Against Freight BrokersThe Supreme Court of the United States will finally settle the circuit court split around the country and address whether state common law claims for negligent hiring/selection are indeed preempted by the Federal Aviation Administration Authorization Act of 1994 (FAAAA). The Court’s ultimate decision will determine whether plaintiffs are permitted to assert claims for negligent hiring/selection against freight brokers or whether such claims are barred.
