Overview
Bev’s clients range from closely held businesses to large employers and nonprofits, and she starts every engagement by learning how the organization actually runs, what it is trying to achieve, and what stands in the way. She knows that approach and solutions are never one-size-fits-all.
She spent the first 10 years of her career representing labor unions and multiemployer benefit funds, and has spent the last 15 years exclusively representing employers. Having sat on both sides of the table, she has extensive experience in traditional labor matters, including union organizing campaigns and representation elections, unfair labor practice charges, grievance arbitration, picketing, strikes and other work stoppages, and contract administration disputes.
Bev regularly guides employers through collective bargaining, from strategy and costing through ratification, and counsels them on day-to-day contract administration, grievance handling, and union avoidance. She represents employers before the National Labor Relations Board, advises on multiemployer fringe benefit fund audits and withdrawal liability, and handles the labor implications of plant closings, subcontracting, and successorship. She also counsels employers on compliance with state and federal employment laws, develops employment policies, negotiates employment and separation agreements, and conducts internal investigations.
Governor Pritzker appointed Bev to the Illinois Department of Labor Advisory Board. She is also a frequent speaker on labor relations and employment matters, including seminars for the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, Illinois Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc., and other trade associations. She is a regular contributor to Amundsen Davis’s Labor and Employment Law Update. Her articles have been republished by Thompson's HR Compliance Expert | FMLA Compliance, Lorman Business Center’s Legal Compliance Resource, and USLAW Magazine.
